Job Summary


This position starts on August 15, 2025.

Works in a team environment to perform the duties of a faculty librarian, which include: reference services and student assistance; design and delivery of information literacy instruction to a diverse user population; departmental liaison responsibilities; outreach and programming; collection development; usage and configuration of library technology and systems; and participation in college and District Library committees. Cultivates partnerships and actively works towards establishing productive relationships with departmental faculty, adjuncts, and campus staff. Assesses instruction and program effectiveness on a regular basis. Embraces continual professional development, improvement, and learning in order to remain current in the field. Demonstrates a commitment to service excellence, innovation, student success, inclusion, and integrity in the performance of job duties. Essential Functions

  • Assist students with in-person and online research and reference questions
  • Design and deliver information literacy sessions, classes, workshops, tutorials, guides, and content across a variety of modalities
  • Take on leadership roles over assigned aspects of library services
  • Engage user population through relationship building, activities, and outreach
  • Serve on college, and District teams and committees
  • Perform assessment of collections, services, instruction, and library programming
  • Assist with the selection, acquisition, promotion, and effective use of Library resources among students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Other job duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications


A Master's degree or higher from a college or university program accredited by the American Library Association (ALA) is required

The following disciplines meet the requirements to teach in this field:

Library and Information Studies, Information Studies, Library and Information Science, Library Science, Information Resources and Library Science, Information Science, AND is from a college or university program accredited by the American Library Association (ALA).

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience teaching library research and/or information literacy classes, workshops, or tutorials
  • Demonstrated knowledge of information literacy principles and/or evidence of using pedagogical best practices to address diverse learning styles and abilities
  • Experience using and/or configuring library technology to provide library services; examples may include: Alma/Primo or similar ILS/Discovery system; libguides; design and presentation software; tutorial creation software; and/or Canvas or learning management system tools, etc.
  • One (1) or more years of experience providing in-person or online reference services, preferably in an academic environment
  • Demonstrated experience working with persons from diverse backgrounds and/or commitment to the success of underrepresented groups
  • Demonstrated experience assessing library services or instruction for the purpose of iterative improvement
  • Experience managing areas of library service or leading library projects and/or initiatives to successful completion

Special Working Conditions

  • Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving:
  • Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense
  • Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
  • May require numerous evenings or weekends
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs
