Job Description - Maintenance 1/Electrician Operates and maintains the hospitals electrical power utilities, lighting, fire alarm and electrical equipment appliances associated with the maintenance electrician trade to keep these systems and equipment operating efficiently and safely, avoiding unscheduled shutdowns, and extending the useful operating life.
Duties - Operates electrical services, lighting, alarm systems and electrical equipment safely and efficiently.
- Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on the hospitals electrical power distribution systems, lighting, life safety systems and electric machinery. Maintains inspection and test records. Evaluates the condition of electrical systems and recommends repair or replacement actions.
- Utilizes and maintains tools and instruments associated with the maintenance electrical trade.
- Records time and material expended on a project for purposes used on our Preventative Maintenance program.
- Performs job functions adhering to service principals with customer service focus on invocation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.
Responsibilities - Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains electrical distribution systems including electrical motors, electrical controls, fire alarms, and energy management system.
- Ensures building fire alarms and emergency electrical systems are operational alone with hospital's energy management system.
- Installs, troubleshoots and repairs new equipment and systems, including outside lighting on building, parking lots and garages.
- Monitors work done by outside contractors for adherence to the National Electrical Code Requirements.
- Maintain appropriate service and repair records.
- Responds to routine and emergency work order request.
Minimum Qualifications Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications as detailed below, or file for equivalency. Equivalency decisions are made on the basis of a combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities.
Experience Four years as a licensed, journey-level electrician in a commercial, industrial, or facility operations setting.
Education Graduate from high school, supplemented by completion of a trade school apprenticeship program that includes theory and on-the-job-training.
Supervision Maintenance 1/Electrical person reports directly to the Facility Director and Maintenance Supervisor.
Physical Requirements - Must be able to perform physical activities, such as but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted) bending, standing, climbing or walking.
- Must be able to use manual tools and power equipment common for this trade.
- Must be able to handle hazardous materials safely and tolerate exposure to electrical and other environmental hazards.
